Gabriella Cilmi - Bril Album
“Sweet about me, nothing sweet about me” is the chorus from Gabriella Cilmi’s debut single. But I must say, there is something definitely sweet about this girl. From her voice to her lyrics, to her creativity, she never ceases to amaze me as I select repeat on my iPod, again.
The maturity in this 16 year oldâs voice makes it hard to believe that she is indeed still a teenager and saying that she sings SO well is an understatement (honestly). She sings about a wide range of topics - as you would expect - with some obvious American influences. You can hear a slight western and rock melody on tracks like Awkward Game and Terrifying. Skip to Safer which happens to be one of my favourite on the album it has more of a Blues sound which brings to emphasis lyrics like, âAnd Just When I Think Iâm On Top ⌠I Stumble And I Hit The Groundâ. In addition, this track really brings to attention her vocal talents.
I know this is not an âin-depthâ critique on her album Lessons To Be Learned, but I just wanted to share my opinion on a real Diamond with you all. Do not be surprised to read in the papers raving reviews about this album from professional critics.

Rise Festival
Went to Rise Festival yesterday and had a blast! Great music, the sun was shining and the overall atmosphere created by the people was just fantastic. I went âearlyâ so I was surprised when I didnât see much people there. Went away for a while and when I came back the park was overflowing with people â I could hardly find my way through the crowd.
What attracted me most to the festival was the fact that CSS was going to perform. For those unfamiliar, CSS is short for Cansei de Ser Sexy (âtired of being sexyâ) and they are an electro/rock band from Brazil. I fell in love with their music from the first time I heard it. Their performance on stage was amazing as always. I love the fact that they are so unique. For those who want to know about CSS I have added some songs.

John Mayer at Brixton Academy

Oh it has been a while since Iâve posted!
I went to see John Mayer at Brixton Academy recently and I thought I would write a post; I simply adore his music. I only found out about John Mayer and his talent a few months ago when listening to Alicia Keys. He featured on a song on her new album (As I Am) called Lesson Learned. I love that song. The chorus was captivating and thatâs how I got noticed of him, and I have been a big fan ever since.
I found out that he was going to be playing at the Brixton Academy only two days before the concert and by that time all tickets had been sold. But that wasnât going to stop me! To my joy people where selling tickets near the gates, and as the saying goes, âthe rest was historyâ.
I came out of the concert thinking âthat was the best money I have ever spentâ. It was simply amazing; from start to finish! He started the concert with Belief, a song from his latest album Continuum, and everyone just went crazy from then on. He played songs from all his albums and did not disappoint in giving us a jaw dropping show of skills on his guitar. Every song ended on a high with the next one laying in wait ready to take you even higher! The only thing the crowd could do was to scream the inevitable âI LOVE YOU JOHN!â.
He obviously takes his career seriously for he performed immaculately throughout the entire concert. Unlike some of the other artists I like. I wont mention Amy name ;).
I was just happy to see him play live and indulge in his music yet again.

Circle Line - drinking ban â 31.05.08
Going out with a few of my friends last night turned out to be more exciting than I had expected. It was the 31st of May, the day before the drinking ban on London Transport came into effect. I forgot I had read in the papers that âmore than 10,000 revellers are expected to swamp the Circle line tomorrow night for the drink-fuelled bashâ and so I got caught up in the âpartyâ.
This bash was arranged through social networking sites such as Facebook and Wadja! Itâs crazy, but not surprising that our loveable Facebook has played a part in such an event.
Luckily I had my camera from an earlier event and was happy to have captured it. Despite the mix reaction, I do think that our new mayor, Boris Johnson, has made a decision that will benefit all of us in the long run.

Will robot romance become a reality?
R2-D2 and Metal Mickey are cute but would you want to marry them? It’s not as barmy as it sounds, claims artificial intelligence expert David Levy. He predicts that by 2050 humans will be having long-term sexual and emotional relationships with robots.
Robots are becoming more sophisticated,’ he explains. ‘Technologies are being developed all the time, such as artificial skin, which will make robots more human-like. One Japanese company makes a doll that has electronic sensors in the nipples so if you stroke them, it makes approving sounds.’

Today
Itâs been months since I last post something on my Blog. Itâs so easy to forget, or should I say neglect, things sometimes. With such a big gap in between postings I have much to say. Thatâs always a plus ;).
My laptop stopped working recently for some bizarre reason. I couldnât use the internet no matter what I tried. Out of pure desperation I asked a question on LinkedIn but even they failed to help me solve the problem. Oh, LinkedIn is a great site professional site by the way. If you havenât already singed up I suggest you have a look.
I had to part with my stubborn ways (momentarily) and go to a PC repair shop. Thatâs something Iâve always hated doing. Reason being, they always take forever to fix the simplest of problems and always over charge. âWhy didnât you just get the manufacture to fix itâ you asked? Well, dealing with the likes of HP is something I totally resent. The last time I sent my laptop to them it was over three months before they finally fixed it and sent it back to me. Pathetic, I knowK.
Anyways, I think that guy at the repair shop might have conned me. He told me that the reason I was unable to connect to the internet was because I had a âvirusâ. I donât believe that at all. Iâm very cautious when using the internet and being protected. Iâve had enough run-ins with such likeness to know the dos and the donâts =). He told me he had to re-install my OS (the thing I dreaded the most) and it was going to cost me. Reluctantly I gave in.
On inspection of my laptop I found out that the guy simply did system recovery and charge me for it â when all I had to do was press f11 on my keyboard when starting up. I knew about that!! I didnât need him to do that for me!
Now I have to live with the sorrows of losing valuable possessions and being charged for it.
Tip of the day: always try to solve your own problems.
